Azerbaijan Experience

Suitable for Family, Group, Senior

OVERVIEW

Take a Jewish heritage tour to Azerbaijan. Discover locations, stories, and speakers who will unravel the intricate tapestry of Azerbaijan’s Jewish roots.

Connect with the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, visit the Synagogue of Ashkenazi Jews and the Mountain Jews Synagogue nestled in Baku’s old Jewish district.

Meet the contemporary Jewish community at the Ohr Avner Jewish School. Wander through the Icherisheher – Old City, juxtaposing medieval wonders like the Maiden Tower and Shirvanshahs’ Palace against the modern backdrop of the Flame Towers.

One of the most unique experiences is a visit to Guba, a ‘shtetl’ frozen in time, where you can see how the Mountain Jewish community lived. Visit the mikveh and Jewish cemetery. Engage in a dialogue with students at Krasnaya Sloboda Secondary School and savor a Mountain Jewish culinary masterclass, then visit the Museum of Mountain Jews.

A Jewish heritage tour to Azerbaijan is like no other experience.
