Famous for its Van Gogh Museum, redlight district, and beautiful canals, Amsterdam is also one of the best cities to explore Jewish heritage.

From visiting the renovated Anne Frank House to a Jewish walking tour around the Portuguese synagogue, Jewish tours of Amsterdam are surprising, fascinating, and a great opportunity to learn about a once vibrant Jewish community and how the contemporary Jewish world is coming to terms with the past.

  • Meet with the Director of the Jewish Historical Museum followed by Esther Shaya, the author who wrote a book about the incredible story of Sieny Cohen and how she saved hundreds of Jewish children.
  • Visit the Anne Frank House and learn the story of Anne’s family, her time during World War II, and video interview perspectives of Holocaust survivors that knew Anne from before the war and from the concentration camp that Anne’s family was later sent to.
  • Visit the Keukenhof Gardens also known as the Garden of Europe, one of the world’s largest flower gardens covering an area of more than 79 acres with approximately 7 million flower bulbs.
  • Stop off in Delft, renowned for its ceramic Delft Blue pottery. It is known as the birthplace of Johannes Vermeer, the famous painter of “the Girl with the Pearl Earring”.

Day 1

Individual arrivals at Amsterdam Schiphol airport

Welcome dinner in a private room of the Janz restaurant under the supervision of Chef Jeroen Robberegt.

Day 2

Depart for a city bus tour and travel to the old Jewish quarter of Amsterdam for an Amsterdam Jewish Quarter Walking Tour. .

Meeting with the Director of the Jewish Historical Museum followed by Esther Shaya, author of a book about the incredible story of Sieny Cohen and how she saved hundreds of Jewish children.

Walk with Esther to Hollandse Schouwburg the Dutch Theater, deportation center for the Jews of the Netherlands. The ORT school will lead the group in a short memorial service.

Walk to visit the Portuguese Synagogue followed by a tour of the highlights of the Jewish Museum

Lunch with Jewish Agency Shlichim (emissaries) from the Region

Visit the Anne Frank House.

Visit the Keukenhof Gardens, also known as the Garden of Europe. It is one of the world’s largest flower gardens covering an area of more than 79 acres with approximately 7 million flower bulbs.

Visit the Mauritshuis Museum in the center of Hague, the historical and political heart of the Netherlands. In the Mauritshuis, discover iconic masterpieces such as the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer and the Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulip by Rembrandt

Lunch with the Israeli Ambassador

Stop off in Delft famous for its ceramic Delft Blue pottery. It is the birthplace of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer, known from”the Girl with the Pearl Earring”.

Private Dinner Cruise along the Canal

Day 4

Visit the Van Gogh Museum – dedicated to the works of Vincent van Gogh and his contemporaries. Learn about Van Gogh’s work and his own tortured past.

Go to the Rijksmuseum, the national museum of the Netherlands, dedicated to Dutch arts and history.

Head to Stedelijk museum, a museum for modern art, contemporary art, and design.

Lunch is at leisure

See the Secret Annexes where the Jewish people who went into hiding spent their time. Better understand what it must have been like “to live a non-life” as a Jewish person in hiding in the Netherlands.

Early dinner followed by a concert at the Royal Concertgbouw
