The Dead Sea is one of the most romantic places on Earth, but it looks like it’s on a completely different planet. Every time I visit it’s like the first time! Every location is different, every swimming hole has its own special qualities. The spas and nature in the Dead Sea make it a magical destination that promises a revitalization of mind, body, spirit, and libido!
A dead sea visit is a perfect way to get close to your body and experience the physical benefits of being in Israel. The Dead Sea for couples is a sensuous and relaxing escape in the unique desert environment.
I think there is something really sexy about cavorting on the lowest point on Earth or watching the sunrise above the Dead Sea together over a cup of hot tea or coffee. The nights are also a romantic phenomenon here, in a place with so little light pollution, you can enjoy an unforgettable night stargazing at the clear sky. Read here about the best places to stargaze in Israel.
I wonder sometimes if the health-promoting environment teamed with an increased oxygen density and unique solar radiation doesn’t affect one’s sense of passion in a very powerful way. Whatever the reason isn’t really important to me. I just know how I feel when I visit Israel’s Dead Sea area and it makes me feel AWESOME! The “Martian” landscape and the unparalleled ability for my sweetie and me to float in tandem for hours in the highly salty water is an unforgettable experience! I can just feel its great health properties which is why I imagine people have been going there for thousands of years.
It is easy to understand why this unique magic attracts discriminating travelers from all over the world. And why it was once a place of refuge for King David as well as one of the world’s first health resorts for Herod the Great. Talk about a celebrity magnet! It has continued to be for thousands of years as well! While I am certainly not a celebrity I do feel the Dead Sea Spell waft over me from time to time and like “Bali Hai” calling for my return.

In addition to being a great tourist attraction, people have been creating a wide variety of products from the salt and minerals from The Dead Sea. They’re sold all over the world, but it’s always better to get the resources straight from the source. There’s nothing more romantic than touching soft skin after a relaxing day at a spa.
Egyptians used to use the resources from the dead sea for mummies, cosmetics, and herbal sachets. I don’t believe they make mummies any longer but the cosmetics are amazing! The message creams after a good long soaking are unbelievable! Such surrealistic sensations! I buy AHAVA products and swear by “The Mineral Magic of the Dead Sea”.
Few people really understand the chemical makeup of The Dead Sea or the fact that it contains 21 minerals, 12 of which are found in no other body of water on Earth and many impart a relaxed feeling, nourishing the skin, activating the circulatory system and easing all sorts of metabolic disorders! For us, it all just feels GREAT!
We have also found that there are several thermo-mineral springs along the shore and these warm-water pools are dominated by sulfur which activates the circulatory system and increases the oxygen supply to the body. I would confide the result but I never kiss and tell! It might make me blush as well. Suffice it to say, you really ought to give it a try for yourself with my blessings!
On a more G-rated note, the benefits of Dead Sea bathing are attributed to the natural tar in the water as well as the high level of minerals that affect everything from the growth of your skin cells, blood circulation, allergies, psoriasis, eczema, and so much more. The least of which is cleaning the skin, improving its outer appearance and elasticity which puts you right back into romantic mode!
I love getting back from a nice day at the Dead Sea, clean and in a robe, and spending time in our comfortable hotel room with some of the best views in the world.
There are dozens of hotels near the Dead Sea, with most located along a “strip” by the sea. Many have access directly to the beach and usually provide guests with treatments in their private spa facilities. Some are quite luxurious while others are more for the budget-minded. I have found that in either case, the value is very good. Restaurants include everything from an Asian Fusion Kosher Bistro to McDonalds, and there are plenty of other adventures you can take near the Dead Sea.
My advice? There is only one Dead Sea and only one you. You owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in it at least once and take a Dead Sea tour. You’ll be back!
