The history since has been marked by expulsions and returns and by emancipation during the time of Napolean. Day 1

Arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 7:45 am

Take a Jewish Walking Tour of Le Marais and meet with a member of the Jewish community who grew up in Le Marais and was a ‘hidden child’ during WWII. Afterwards, pay a visit to the Tournelles Synagogue (permit permitting) and take a break at lunch.

Visit the Deportation Memorial by the Seine and meet Tatiana De Rosna, an author who wrote a number of books about deportation during the Holocaust

Refresh for dinner

Head to a welcome dinner at Balagan, a hip and trendy Israeli restaurant near Place Vendôme. You will be accompanied by French women from different parts of the Jewish community.

Day 2

For breakfast, participate in a pastry class with a young Jewish young chef in the famous ‘Goldenberg’ kitchen on Rue des Rosiers, in the heart of the Jewish Quarter in Paris.

Discover The Louvre through Jewish Eyes with an emphasis on Biblical Women: Esther, Batsheva and Rebecca

Lunch at the ‘Emily in Paris’ Bistrot Valois

Visit the Grand Synagogue de la Victoire and meet with the head Rabbi. Afterwards, visit the Nissim de Camondo Museum and Parc Monceau.

Day 3

Breakfast briefing by CRIF, Conseil Representative des Institutions Juives de France, the umbrella organization for Jewish France.

Depart for Sarcelles.

Sarcelles is a microcosm of the complexities of French/European Jewry.The City of Sarcelles has two memorial monuments: one for Yosef Cohen, one of the four victims killed in the Hypercasher terrorist attack and the other for the victims killed in the Toulouse Terrorist attack.

This visit could include a briefing with Rabbi Berros, the chief Rabbi of Sarcelles, a visit to the Otzar Hatorah Girls school with Rabbi Isvy and some of the students, a stop at the 2 memorials, and a walk up to Jerusalem Street to taste some of the Kosher French pastries and handmade chocolate.

The day ends with lunch at Café Inoun, where you will meet the Chief Executive Deputy of SPCJ (protection service for the French Jewish Community).

Day 4

Private showing of the Jewish Museum of Art with the Director before opening hours followed by a visit with the chocolatier “Plaq” in Le Sentier.

Tour of Belleville, Paris with a street artist and then lunch at an authentic Parisian bistro

Finish an art filled day with a tour of Montmartre, the art area in Paris and then have Wine & Cheese with Moishe House residents.

Closing dinner at a Parisian restaurant.
